A few thoughts:
1. Bud Selig, what a bum! The jerk makes up rules whenever he wants (where was that rain during the AllStar game?), but he refuses to help a kid out. PS Bud - keep the A's in Oakland for crying out loud!
2. Joyce has partially redeemed himself, and I only feel that because of Galarraga's unparalleled dearness. The public apology was nice, the admission of terrible wrongness was better, the shedding of tears during his next-day encounter with Galarraga - priceless.
3. Galarraga is the perfect gentleman.

A Terrible Theft in Detroit
I couldn't believe what I had just seen. All my love for baseball immediety flew to hatred for this Jim Joyce. I spat at his name, I called him a liar, I insulted his mustache. I cursed him for what he took away so carelessly. But then I focused on Galarraga. Did anyone else experience a sudden change of heart? To sing to the glory of what almost happened? He did, and I did too. True to his Venezuelan roots, roots so pure Mikey devotes a losing Fantasy team to them ever year, he saw the grandeur of what he was doing, as well as the cost of what he lost, and he was humble. And he smiled. Not mockingly, but understandingly.
Now don't get me wrong. I think Joyce should be assassinated. You don't make bad calls when you know the cost. When stakes are that high, you set your assurance of accuracy that high. You watch your close calls and you be sure of them. Other Umps - step up. Come on! All the instant reply we need comes from the mound dicussion between the four men dressed in blue. Sure, bad calls are fun... But not when they matter to history.
But thank you Galarraga. Thank you for reminding me that baseball isn't about the close calls, the bad calls. It's about what you do every moment of the game. The Tigers played perfectly. They made no mistakes.
Give him the game, Bud. It's the only thing your good for.
