Mainly Maine!

What a fun weekend we had! We were finally able to sneak away and shirk our sunday responsibilities (thank you Stake Conference... shhhhh). The Tourist Season starts in a week, so we got to try all the tourist attractions as they opened at the off season prices. It was great!
It started off with a long drive to Bar Harbor, MA and are first night was spent in a cute Bed and Breakfast right off the water.

We had a super fun day filled with lots of activities and lots of really good food! We had a lot of fun out on the town...

I even tried...wait for it.... Lobster ICE CREAM. If you are wondering if it actually tastes good, you are wrong. It was terrible. Super gross, way too buttery, and the chunks were real lobster, frozen and mushy. Gross.

Downtown was pretty small, but very quaint.

Scott got pretty close to the whale.

In town, we found the cutest hand-carved Santa's. We absolutely fell in love with them... wouldn't you!?

That afternoon we went to a Tulip Festival that was amazing. Over 80,000 bulbs were planted by the local youth. A seasonal guy that lives on the island really helps out the local community. After the youth planted the bulbs, he sent them all to Holland to the real Tulip Festival there. So cool!
So, here is a piece of the beauty!

Here's the home

We also had a lot of fun experimenting with our camera...

The home has huge grounds, right on the water!

We took a nice drive around the island and got to see and ton of great views! But the roads were a bit scary! How are we supposed to even do what this sign is warning us to do?

We spent the next night camping. We found a great little camp site and set up our tent.

After the tulips, we got to spend the afternoon on an awesome sail boat, The Mary Todd, sailing around all the little islands surround Bar Harbor.

It was so cool, especially when we discovered our telephoto lens and started having some real fun seeing things others couldn't!
True or False, this is a Bald Eagle!!!!

Who knew you could use a baseball for so many things!

It was surprisingly cold! We had to layer and layer and layer some more.

See those sails.... I got to pull them up! It was hard work.

If the man looks concerned, it's because I was so good and he feared I'd take over his job.

Some more fun with the camera.

All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and I can't wait to do it again!

Baby: Blake Emerson Alexander Shields

Dyn tour: Van Otis Chocolate Factory

About 5 blocks down from Dyn's new sales HQ is a small but wonderful chocolate factory. No Oompa Loompas, no fat kids getting stuck in pipes, and sadly no lickable wall paper. To compensate was an abundance of samples, how-to's and fun lesson's on how a chocolate factory works and operates.

Today Dyn had a company sponsored trip down to check it all out. Overall about 15-20 of us went (we have 70 people - what in the world the others were doing I have no idea...but why would you skip a choco-tour?) for close to an hour and a half. Pictures below are us having a fun fun time!

Scout Hike 13 Miles

We took the boys on a 10 mile hike, which like all Scout hikes inevitably turned into 13. The boys started off exhausted and tired from the night before's 'sleepover', but ended up excited and pleased with their efforts. One of the youngest boys who is probably half my height completed the trip with only a small amount of whining. Very impressed!

Fun notes:
-Saw a Gardener snake, Craig Legeyt sprinted up the trail
-Andre Marte skipped a stone 21 times
-It rained, thundered and lightning'd for about 3 miles of the hike
-We found a rope swing and almost all of the boys launched out over the lake and back
